The National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) is funded by a federal law and implemented across 70+ states and territories to serve populations with limited access to cervical and breast cancer screenings. Our task was to highlight some of the most dramatic success stories to celebrate the program’s 30th anniversary.
In 2021, we captured six impactful stories from some of the most underserved populations across the country, from remote areas within the Navajo Nation and rural Alaska, to trans and non-binary groups in Vermont. These were used to celebrate the program and promoted locally within each community to increase awareness of the program. In 2023, we were asked to feature program efforts in Alabama and Mississippi.
